Ireland, Norway, and Spain plan to formally recognize the state of Palestine, highlighting a shift in international opinion. Recently, 143 countries, including India, called for UN recognition of Palestine.
Many other important countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States still have not recognized it. This is a symbolic step but goes long way in ensuring a two state solution. Two state solution recognizes Israel and Palestine as two separate countries thus ensuring peace among them.
